About LaLiga

About The 2024/25 LaLiga Season

Get ready for another thrilling season of LaLiga football, where the action kicks off on Friday, 16 August 2024. This year promises to be one of the most exciting in recent memory, with Spain’s biggest clubs vying for glory and a host of new storylines unfolding each week.

Real Madrid, the reigning champions, are set to defend their crown with renewed vigour. Having secured their 36th league title last season, Los Blancos have strengthened their squad even further with the sensational signings of Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham. With these new stars, Madrid aims not only to dominate LaLiga but also to extend their European legacy in the UEFA Champions League.

Over at FC Barcelona, change is in the air. Hansi Flick has taken the reins, and despite the club's well-documented financial struggles, there is a renewed sense of optimism. Barcelona's mix of young talent, like the prodigious Lamine Yamal, and experienced campaigners, including Robert Lewandowski, could make them serious contenders for the title this year. Flick’s tactical acumen will be crucial as the Catalan giants look to reclaim their spot at the top of Spanish football.

Atletico Madrid, led by the ever-passionate Diego Simeone, are determined to bounce back after a disappointing campaign that saw them finish outside the top three. New additions like Julian Alvarez could provide the spark Atletico needs to challenge for the title once again. With their typically resolute defence and a bolstered attack, Atletico will be aiming to shake up the title race.

Meanwhile, last season’s surprise package, Girona FC, will have to navigate a challenging path after selling their top scorer to AS Roma. Despite their third-place finish last season, this key loss means Girona will need to find new ways to maintain their competitive edge and cope with the additional burden of European football.

Sevilla FC, a team known for their prowess in European competitions, are embarking on a rebuilding phase after missing out on continental football for the first time in over a decade. With new management and strategic signings, Sevilla could emerge as dark horses, capable of upsetting the established order in LaLiga.

As the season progresses, the battle for survival will be just as intense as the fight for the title. Newly promoted teams Espanyol, Real Valladolid, and Leganés are all back in the top flight and will be doing everything in their power to avoid the drop.

This season’s LaLiga promises to deliver drama, excitement, and unforgettable moments. From the classic El Clásico clashes to the fierce derbies and the rise of new stars, every matchweek is sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats.
